Cheap Storage Does Not Have To Mean Unsafe Storage

There is a misconception, among many, regarding cheap storage. Many associate the word “cheap” with unsafe, or unsecured storage, and in this article we will explain how that is not necessarily the case.

We are Blue Mound 287 Self Storage, serving the Greater Fort Worth area with inexpensive, but also secure self storage. Call us at 817-439-1380 for more information about prices and availability.

How much is cheap storage?

For background, a storage unit is priced according to the size. Smaller units cost less than larger units. With that as background information, taking the smallest storage unit as an example, one would pay from $40-$80 for a 5’x5’ unit. Why the large range in price? Prices are established in a particular area according to the Laws of Supply and Demand.  If you are looking for an average cost of such a unit, our educated guess would be about $55 per month.

Is that cheap? We can’t answer that question. At Blue Mound 287, our 5’x5’ unit costs $45 per month, and yes, that is inexpensive compared to others in the area; but, the question still remains, is cheap storage also unsafe storage?

When cheap storage also means unsafe storage

The safety of items stored in storage facilities depends upon the level of security offered by any particular company.  There are basically four levels of security in a storage facility: fenced perimeter, video surveillance, individual computer access keys, and onsite management/personnel.

If you are paying a low amount for storage, and only one of those levels of security is adopted by the facility then yes, cheap storge equals unsafe storage.  Two levels of security is better; three levels is much better; and all four levels, quite frankly, is what you should expect.  You are storing items which are important to you; as such, those items should be protected.  You should expect nothing less for your hard-earned dollars.

When inexpensive storage also means safe storage

All four levels of security . . . anything less is not, as far as we are concerned, safe self storage.

Blue Mound 287 Self Storage offers a fenced enclosure of our property.  There is only one access point to our property, through the main gate, and you cannot get through that gate without a personalized access card.  In addition, all storage units have individualized access cards, and every square inch of the property is on security video, 24/7.

But, we don’t stop there.  Our onsite management and personal team provide the final stage of security.  Nothing spells trouble to would-be thieves and vandals like a human presence.

Four levels of security.  Only $45 for a 5’x5’ storage unit.  Is it any wonder why Blue Mound 287 Self Storage has been a leader in the storage industry, in Fort Worth, for many years?
