You are about to receive some information, from a mini storage business, which you will not hear from practically any other self storage business in the United States.  You certainly won’t see this information in any advertisements for mini storage.  You most definitely will not see it on any posters in any self storage rental office.  Still, we are going to share it with you here, because we believe the best business is an open and honest business.

We are Blue Mound 287 Self Storage, serving the Greater Fort Worth area, and providing that area with the very best in mini storage. Call us at 817-439-1380 and speak to one of our rental agents.  We have the answers to your storage needs.

And now, the information most mini storage facilities won’t tell you.

The goal of most storage facilities

To state it simply, the goal of all storage facilities is to make a profit. This should come as no surprise. The purpose of being in business is to make money, is it not?  The entire economic system of capitalism is based on businesses providing product and services in exchange for money, with the goal being to make a profit.  Period! End of discussion!

But, a profit at what cost to the consumer?

Most storage companies, in pursuit of that profit-making goal, will attempt to put you, the customer, in the largest storage unit possible, because size costs in the self storage business.  A small, 5’x5’ storage unit, will cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $50 per month.  The next size up, a 5’x10’, will cost twenty-to-thirty dollars more per month.  Now, that may not seem like a big deal, that extra twenty-to-thirty dollars, but multiply that times ten, fifteen customers, per month, and it adds up very quickly, and that means greater profit for the storage company.

Likewise, climate controlled storage will cost extra.  You may not need it for what you are storing, but most self storage employees are trained to “push it” in an attempt to make more profit. Again, it may not be necessary for what you are storing, but most customers are not aware of what they need.

We understand why most self storage companies do these things.  Making more profit means, well, a longer life for that company.  However, we take a slightly different approach at Blue Mound 287 Self Storage.

Our goal at Blue Mound 287 Self Storage

Our goal is to make our customers happy by renting them exactly what they need at a price they can afford.  We do not try to rent larger storage units when they are not needed. We do not push climate controlled self storage when it is not needed.  We listen to our customers and determine what they need and nothing more.  And why do we do that? Because we believe if you treat customers fairly, they will return to you, and they will tell their friends and family about you, and in that way slightly smaller profits are generated over a longer span of time.

The secret to saving money with self storage

We teach our customers how to properly load a storage unit.  We point out that a 5’x5’ unit may only have twenty-five square feet of floor storage, but it also has eight feet of vertical storage, and with proper packing and stacking, a customer can stuff more in a smaller unit than he/she would have thought possible.

We teach our customers which items do, and do not, need climate control protection.  We do not believe you should pay for something you do not need, and our customers appreciate that openness and they reward us by continuing to rent from us.

We believe good business practices, like those, pay dividends in the long-run.
